Job description

We have an immediate opening for a Product Design Engineer in our Bellingham, WA facility.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement new products, product variations, and product enhancements utilizing CAD, statistical analysis, performance test results, and user review feedback.
  • Connect design decisions to consumer needs through Product Management collaboration and customer knowledge.
  • Understand the consumer experience beyond documented needs by using and testing products.
  • Clearly communicate project action items, risks, and progress to management and team.
  • Design and coordinate construction and use of capable testing fixtures that verify a design’s ability to meet functional objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with factories, Quality Control, and Product Management to ensure the product meets cost, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Effectively and thoroughly create and update project documentation such as drawings, design journals, and test reports.
  • Understand and address non-conforming material as it relates to the impact to the consumer.
  • Identify and work with 3rd parties, as needed, to complete projects, such as prototype builds or testing.
  • Identify problems and utilize methodical problem-solving methods to present solutions that address root cause.
  • Proactively conceptualize and recommend new ideas that support the company’s mission and vision.
  • Apply and recommend modeling or drafting and document control best practices.
  • Identify patentable design features.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Two or more years of mechanical design experience preferred
  • Proficiency in modeling and drafting required
  • Understand numerous engineering tools, statistical tolerance, stack-up, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize advanced statistics in problem solving.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills
