At this time, STAR has an open position for a Design Engineer(full-time, exempt). This role plays a critical role in partnering across the business to see projects through from launch to completion, on time and within budget.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Collaborate with Business Development and Creative teams on design, material selections, value engineering, and pricing strategies that will position STAR to win projects.
  • Establish and produce cost estimates for proposals, integrating design, graphics, production and services.
  • Research new materials and vendors for a given project.
  • Lead and provide work direction and guidance to supporting team (Production Engineer, CAD Engineer, Lead Builder, Production Manager, Graphic Project Manager, and outside vendors as needed).
  • Manage the planning, organization, documentation, estimates, timelines, and tasks of projects in partnership with Project Management.
  • Ensure effective project handoff from Estimating to Production Engineering.
  • Complete AutoCAD drawings (2D and 3D, technical, graphic, CNC, and setup) for assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in internal project meetings, including project margin and variance reviews, new business production meetings and project debriefs.
  • Complete daily reporting responsibilities.
  • The ideal candidate for this job will possess a collaborative spirit, a commitment to exceeding client expectations, fanatical attention to detail, and an exceptional ability to manage assigned tasks and timelines.


Qualifications:


  • 2-year degree in drafting / design
  • 4+ years of experience in drafting and project management (experience in retail, tradeshow or cabinetry strongly preferred)
  • Software proficiency (AutoCAD, MS Office-Excel, internet)
  • Willingness and ability to work beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods to ensure client needs are met
