Job description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Using design layouts, models, and other information, create design drawings for use by manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support CAD Designers by creating working drawings for basic shelters and mechanical and electrical modifications, including rack installations, ECU installations, entry panel installations, lighting, power distribution, and other ancillary items. 
  • Understand customer Technical Data Package requirements for the program. 
  • Incorporate drawing changes. 
  • Follow all CAD standards and procedures used by Gichner Shelter Systems. 
  • Meet CAD schedules and budgets. 
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy. 
  • Follow configuration requirements for documentation control. 
  • Interface with other departments to support the project. 
  • Contribute to product improvement, standardization, and department improvement projects.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Resolve problems that are diversified and complex.
  • Requires judgement in applying or interpreting standard practices to suit special or changing conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of technical training or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient in 2D CAD.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
