Description

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of blow molding equipment and related systems. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, service, supply chain, and customers to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for blow molding machinery and related equipment.
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation using CAD software.
  • Support new machine development, machine enhancements, and product standardization initiatives.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to machine performance, structural integrity, motion control, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve product quality, assembly efficiency, and production processes.
  • Investigate and resolve mechanical design issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist with machine testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
  • Support field service and customer applications by providing technical expertise and engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers and technicians to provide subject matter expertise
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency optimization studies
  • Support Purchasing to develop purchased parts specifications
  • Support Sales with development of cost estimates and quotations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or industrial equipment environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience interpreting and creating engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing capital equipment, industrial machinery, or plastics processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of blow molding, extrusion, injection molding, or packaging manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with FEA.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Work Environment:

Office / Manufacturing environment. Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.

Travel / Customer Support. Employee might be expected to perform customer support and guidance at their locations. Aside from technical capability, the employee must have interpersonal skills commensurate with expectations for a field service technician who also promotes product sales and further services.

This is an office-based position that requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, driving, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, and communicating.
