CNC Quality Inspector / CMM Technician

ZEV Technologies Centralia, WA

Full-Time

Compensation: $25-$35 DOE

Position Summary

ZEV Technologies is seeking a CNC Quality Inspector / CMM Technician to support our precision machining operations.

This position is responsible for performing first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections while ensuring precision machined components meet engineering and customer requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with machining, engineering, and production personnel to verify product conformity, investigate dimensional concerns, and support continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

This is a hands-on position within a CNC manufacturing environment. Candidates should have previous experience working with precision machined components or within a precision manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound inspection decisions while supporting production.

Primary Responsibilities

Inspection

· Perform first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections.

· Verify product conformity using engineering drawings, CAD models, technical data packages, and customer specifications.

· Perform dimensional inspections utilizing precision measuring equipment including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gages, height gages, thread gages, optical comparators, and other metrology equipment.

· Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.

CMM & Metrology

· Operate and support CMM inspection activities.

· Develop, modify, and execute CMM inspection programs based on experience and training.

· Verify dimensional results using alternate measurement methods when necessary.

· Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection equipment remains compliant and operational.

Manufacturing Support

· Work closely with machinists, programmers, engineering, and production personnel to resolve dimensional concerns.

· Investigate discrepancies between manual inspection, CMM results, CAD models, and engineering drawings.

· Support manufacturing by providing timely inspection results that keep production moving while maintaining quality standards.

· Participate in first article inspections, process validation, and new product introductions.

Continuous Improvement

· Monitor inspection results for recurring quality concerns and process variation.

· Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.

· Assist with improving inspection methods and manufacturing processes.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years of experience in a CNC machining, precision manufacturing, or manufacturing quality environment.

· Experience inspecting precision machined components or supporting CNC manufacturing operations.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

· Working knowledge of GD&T.

· Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gages, and height gages.

· Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently while supporting production priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience performing first article, in-process, and final inspections.

· Experience operating or programming CMM equipment.

· Experience with Wenzel, Zeiss, PC-DMIS, Calypso, CMM Manager, OpenDMIS, or similar software.

· Experience interpreting CAD models and technical data packages.

· Experience inspecting aluminum, stainless steel, and other precision machined components.

· Experience supporting aerospace, defense, firearms, medical device, or other precision manufacturing industries.

· Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

· Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing software systems.
