JOB SUMMARY:
The Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Design CAD Engineer is an IN-OFFICE role, NOT REMOTE. responsible for developing detailed engineering drawings, 2D/3D models, and technical documentation used in the design, manufacturing, and installation of company products and systems. This role requires strong engineering judgment, advanced CAD expertise, and the ability to translate conceptual ideas, sketches, and specifications into accurate, manufacturable designs.
The Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Design CAD Engineer collaborates with engineering, production, project management, and field operations to ensure all designs meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, schematics, and layouts using advanced CAD tools.
  • Convert engineering concepts, technical specifications, and customer requirements into buildโ€‘ready drawings.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and production teams to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Validate model accuracy, dimensioning, tolerancing, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure product designs meet internal quality standards, industry codes, and customer specifications.
  • Assist in engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and design improvements.
  • Recommend modifications to improve manufacturability, performance, and safety.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, version control, and data management in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into updated models and drawings.
  • Support field teams by providing clarification, design revisions, or troubleshooting when needed.
  • Stay current on CAD technologies, engineering methods, materials, and drafting standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, management, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering field required.
  • CAD certifications (Autodesk, SolidWorks, or similar) preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Design CAD Engineer, Mechanical Designer, or related engineering/design role required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, or equipment design preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional site visits may require bending, climbing, or standing for extended periods.
