 Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to join its collaborative team in Chicago, IL. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the planning, design and permitting of civil engineering and land development infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in site/civil engineering design for mixed-use developments, shopping centers, residential, higher education, federal, and other exciting land development projects in a continuous learning environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including due diligence assessments, reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
  • Perform zoning, ordinance and permit assessments, determine the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data, and prepare concept plans and site test-fits using tenant-specific criteria;
  • Attend client and team meetings with project personnel;
  • Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments. Assist other work groups across offices and disciplines on an as-needed basis; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, or related field preferred;
  • 1+ years' experience in Site/Civil design, including site planning
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting;
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required; and
  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
