Job description

HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Engineering Team as a Design Technician I.

Summary

The Design Technician I is responsible for maintaining and preparing detailed and accurate CAD shape drawings, CAD refractory lining drawings and bills of materials for simple vessels needed for sales quotes and/or placing the customer order.


Responsibilities

  • Preparing CAD refractory shape drawings for plant manufacturing

  • Preparing CAD refractory lining drawings for simple customer vessels

  • Preparing Excel bills of materials for simple customer vessels


Requirements

  • Requires zero (0) to three (3) years of experience as a Design Technician with project design and CAD experience.  Experience in the refractory industry preferred

  • Requires Associate Degree in CAD Design or Engineering or equivalent experience in a related technical field
  • Requires knowledge of AutoCAD & CREO software
  • Requires knowledge of MS Excel and Access for bill of material program and customer databases

Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Physical Activity:  Requires more than 2/3 of time sitting and 1/3 to 2/3 of time walking and less than 1/3 of time standing, talking or hearing.
  • Lifting:  No lifting required. 
  • Vision:  Requires accurate close, color and peripheral vision and the ability to focus.
  • Environment:  Requires more than 2/3 of time working in an office setting with limited exposure.
  • Noise:  Requires exposure to very quiet conditions.
  • Travel: Limited travel to job site and customer meeting. Approximately 5% travel.
