Job description

POSITION: CAD Designer/Modeler
REPORTS TO: Lead CAD Designer or the General Manager
Who We Are:
Based in Middle Tennessee, Coburn's Exclusive is a team of passionate individuals dedicated to crafting beautiful metal products. We manage the entire design process, from concept to installation, for diverse projects ranging from custom furniture to monumental stairs. Our advanced digital fabrication toolkit, including 3D scanning, CNC bending, and laser cutting, enables us to bring complex ideas to life with efficiency and precision. We take immense pride in our work and the meticulous effort invested in every creation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Comply to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • This is an Onsite position, with standard houses of 7am to 3:30pm M-F .( OVERTIME AS NEEDED)
  • Pay close attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ensure the working environment is clean and safe.
  • Contribute to our drug-free workplace.1
  • Availability and willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends, is expected for this and all other CAD department positions as dictated by project deadlines and production demands.
  • Any other duties as assigned.1

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB:
Technical & Production Duties
  • Drawing Production: Create architectural drawings of custom metal structures. This includes moving drawings through all stages of the design process, such as:1
    • Interpreting customer drawings and blueprints.1
    • Taking measurements using tools (calipers, laser scanners, etc.).1
    • Translating information into fabrication drawings for customer review.1
    • Editing drawings as needed for final customer approval and release to the fabrication department, while maintaining time constraints and quality standards.1
  • Data Processing and Utilization: utilize 3D scans, Traditional Field measurements, and other methods to create precise fabrication drawings for use by the shop to create each project
  • On-Site Data Collection: When necessary, travel to job sites to collect appropriate 3D scans, Field measurements and any other date needed to produce accurate drawings. .1
  • Technical Proficiency: Maintain an advanced level of proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating diagrams, sketches, and blueprints.1
  • Software Expertise: Utilize and maintain competency in all of Coburn's current Drafting Programs, including but not limited to Autodesk Inventor, ReCap, and AutoCad 2026, and other basic office software.1

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES:
These functions are performed on a regular basis unless otherwise specified.
  1. Ability to sit, stand, grasp, type, stoop, reach, walk, push, and pull for sustained periods of time.
  2. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  3. Ability to read, calculate, measure, plan, and compile information.
  4. Ability to investigate, organize, explain, and present information.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form in English on a daily basis.
  6. Ability to make rational decisions.
  7. Ability to accept direction and orders from supervisor and others in authority.
  8. Ability and willingness to accept and follow through on recommendations for improvement as a result of performance appraisal, monitoring, self-assessment, and daily supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RELATED TO WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis to, but not limited to, local, state, and national destinations. Travel methods may include personal or company vehicle, box truck, airplane, or train.
  2. Ability to use your own vehicle for work related activities when company vehicles are not available.
  3. Ability to work and drive during periods of inclement weather.
  4. Ability to effectively interact and work cooperatively as a team member with people from a variety of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  5. Ability to work in a variety of environments including, but not limited to, workshops, offices, warehouses, storage units, box trucks and public places.

This position requires an authorization to work within the United States and a valid drivers license accompanied by a reliable mode of transportation to and from work (including jobs that are not located at our shop).
