Position Summary:

The Project Specialist-CAD/BIM support the Integrated Technology Division (ITD) by aiding in maintaining as-builts and existing condition drawings for architectural and engineering infrastructure. This role involves conducting site evaluations, performing field surveys using LIDAR scanning and manual measurements, and participating in design technical reviews from initial concept to 100% design drawings. The staff will also support the scheduling and documentation of design-related meetings and utilize various software tools to develop supportive documents for use by other government contractors and customers. Additional responsibilities include supporting the compilation of as-built documents, generating Revit models, CAD drawings, compiling BIM data, and updating the Master Record Drawings from project as-built, LIDAR scanning data, site surveys, and other existing building and project record documents. The specialist will provide support and analysis to the Government in their management of awarded study and design contracts and review contractors' work, providing written reports of findings to the Government.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist the Government in gathering information, providing reviews, analyses, advice, opinions, ideas, recommendations, and other non-discretionary tasks related to the development of technical requirements for A/E services.
  • Oversee the execution of site evaluations and field surveys using LIDAR scanning and manual measurements.
  • Perform design technical reviews from initial concept to 100% design drawings.
  • Support the scheduling and documentation of design-related meetings.
  • Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS), LIDAR processing software, Recap, Revit, Navisworks, and Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) products to develop supportive documents for use by other government contractors and customers.
  • Support the compilation of as-built documents in collaboration with ITD.
  • Generate Revit models, CAD drawings, compile BIM data, and update the Master Record Drawings from project as-built, LIDAR scanning data, site surveys, and other existing building and project record documents.
  • Provide engineering support and analysis to the Government in their management of awarded study and design contracts.
  • Review contractors' work and provide written reports of findings to the Government.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering.
  • CAD, BIM, GIS, and/or LIDAR practical experience
  • US citizenship

OR

  • Equivalency: Degree may be substituted with 4 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with federal or Department of Defense (DoD) projects.
  • BS degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be required to occasionally move and lift 20-30 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, erect and maintain balance on a 30-40 pound ladder.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary computer position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day between buildings.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be willing to work in external environments of rain, high heat and significant cold.
  • Must be able navigate active construction sites containing uneven ground, debris, and active construction hazards such as sharp objects, electrical hazards, and potential fall hazards.
  • Must be able to occasionally go into confined spaces and crawl

Work Setting/Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • This job operates in active construction environments and professional office environments.
  • The position requires an eight (8)-hour workday performed between 0700 (7AM) and 1700 (5PM), Monday through Friday. employees are expected to arrive between 0700 (7AM) and 0800 (8AM). Employees cannot depart till after 1600 (4PM); limited flexibility in daily start and end times is available based on project demands
