Job description

The Process Engineer Intern will support manufacturing operations by assisting with process improvement projects, data collection and analysis, problem-solving activities, and production support. This role provides hands-on experience in a window and door manufacturing environment and offers opportunities to work alongside engineering, production, quality, maintenance, and safety teams.

The intern will gain practical experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, process optimization, and project management while contributing to initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

This internship is located at our Roanoke, Virginia production facility.

  • Work Monday-Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Pay starts at $21.50/hr

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Assist engineers in supporting daily manufacturing operations.
  • Observe manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with documenting manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
  • Assist with kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support root-cause analysis activities (A3).

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Gather production and quality data from manufacturing systems.
  • Create reports, charts, and presentations to support decision-making.
  • Track project metrics and improvement results.
  • Support return-on-investment (ROI) and cost-savings calculations for engineering projects.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Masterโ€™s degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Related Engineering Discipline
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Previous manufacturing, technical, or internship experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience using CAD software.
