Design Engineer / 3D CAD CREO (Contract Role)
Job Description
Brooks Automation is a global leader in advanced automation, vacuum systems, and contamination control technologies used across semiconductor manufacturing and other high-precision industries. Our products enable ultra-clean, high-reliability wafer handling and process automation in some of the world's most advanced fabs.
Brooks Automation is seeking a high-potential Design Engineer to join our Vacuum Systems Design Engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, analysis, and validation of vacuum chambers, frames, robots, pumping interfaces, and critical sub-systems that operate in high- and ultra-high-vacuum environments.
This position provides hands-on engineering experience and mentorship from industry experts in vacuum technology, robotics, and semiconductor automation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Assist in the design and development of vacuum chambers, frames, subassemblies, vacuum and nitrogen lines and precision mechanical components.
  • Create and update 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies using Creo.
  • Release 2D Drawings, Assembly Drawings, and Manufacturers parts
  • Perform engineering calculations and basic analysis including Structural, Modal, O-ring Compression.
  • Support system builds.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and systems engineering) to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Participate in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), BOM creation, and configuration management within a PLM system (Agile).
  • Provide engineering support throughout the product lifecycle-from early concept design to final production release and shipment.
  • Perform and contribute to Design Reviews, Peer Reviews, and Concept Reviews.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals: statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and mechanical design.
  • Experience with 3D CAD CREO is required.
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
