GRW Engineers, Inc. has a career opportunity available for an experienced Water/Wastewater CAD Technician/Designer in our Lexington office.
In addition to protecting public and environmental health, adequate water, wastewater and stormwater facilities are essential for communities to grow and attract new business. The design of this infrastructure is a cornerstone of GRW's service offerings. Our water resource professionals deliver fiscally responsive and operationally efficient solutions by working in partnership with locally elected officials, drinking water and wastewater service providers, and state environmental and health administrators.
This position involves assisting project managers and engineers with the design of water utility and wastewater utility infrastructure projects. Typical projects include water/wastewater utility line design, treatment plant, water tanks and pumping station design and site grading/erosion/traffic control. This position is responsible for the design and layout of engineering drawings. Preparation of construction quantities for cost estimating and assistance with permitting for governmental/regulatory agencies is also part of the job description. Additionally, this position requires periodic field work associated with surveying and construction.
Required Experience:
  • Vocational certificate or 2-year degree in Civil Technology or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in designing water/wastewater utility design projects in a consulting engineering environment
  • Current AutoCAD and Civil 3D expertise is essential along
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with team members and other disciplines
  • High level of organizational & time management skills and attention to detail
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)/3-D experience a plus
  • ARC GIS skills a plus
  • Surveying experience a plus
  • Construction experience a plus
