Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficient with UGNX CAD platform
  • Responsible for 3D modelling, product prints, details and assemblies
  • Prepares clear, complete and accurate designs and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches provided by the development engineers
  • Management of all 2D and 3D design files and revision tracking
  • Facilitate CAD & Print transfers; ensuring the latest revisions are sent to GM via Teamcenter
  • Responsible for completing tasks assigned by the Program Team
  • Practical Knowledge of Manufacturing Design Standards for Aluminum Castings/Extrusion, Stampings, Rubber Injection Molding, Plastic Injection Molding, Cold Heading, Forgings, etc
  • Knowledge and practice of Hutchinson's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate well with engineers, and other plant and office personnel.  Must have good attention to detail and accuracy.  Must have excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of the materials and processes used to manufacture the components in order to effectively design using established standards and best practices.

Must be open to new ideas and accept critical technical critique of the design work completed. Must be able to accept and complete multiple changes driven by both customer and internal influences.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent
  • Minimum Associates Degree in Drafting, CAD or equivalent
  • 5 years of related experience

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Entry level math skills 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, and UGNX CAD software.  Must have a working knowledge of FEA requirements and process to deliver usable models to the CAE group for this purpose.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in verbal or sketch form and process several abstract and concrete variables.  Must be able to assess feasibility of the design work performed.
