Job description

Position Title: Civil CAD Technician
Salary Range: $27-$33 per hour / DOE plus overtime and bonus potential
A stable, privately owned surveying and construction services firm is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to support a busy Charlotte office. This role will convert field survey data into accurate CAD drawings, prepare boundary and topographic surveys, develop construction staking plans, and assist with drafting, platting, as-builts, and quality control. The ideal candidate has hands-on survey or civil CAD experience, strong technical accuracy, and a practical, collaborative approach to working in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Convert field survey data into detailed CAD drawings for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking plans
  • Interpret survey notes, sketches, field measurements, and supporting documentation
  • Prepare accurate drawings, plats, maps, as-builts, and construction layout documents
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with project requirements and applicable industry standards
  • Collaborate with surveyors, CAD managers, project managers, and construction and land development teams
  • Incorporate project revisions, design changes, and field modifications into drawings
  • Maintain organized project files, drawings, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with quality control reviews to confirm the accuracy and completeness of survey drawings
  • Support the professional land surveyor review and sign-off process
  • Balance multiple active projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining consistent quality

Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of survey, civil, land development, construction, or site civil CAD experience
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software and the ability to produce accurate 2D plans
  • Experience interpreting survey data, field notes, technical drawings, and project specifications
  • Understanding of drafting, platting, construction layout, or land development workflows
  • Ability to work fully on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Valid driver's license
  • Relevant experience will be considered in place of a formal degree
