Job description

Description:

TriplePoint Labs is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to

lead the design, development, and optimization of complex mechanical systems and engineered

assemblies. This role will support the development of industrial fluid handling systems, pump

packages, fuel systems, control assemblies, and custom engineered equipment from concept through

production.


Key Responsibilities


Mechanical Design & Development

• Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for industrial and commercial

applications

• Create detailed 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and production documentation

• Develop pump systems, piping assemblies, fuel systems, skids, tanks, and integrated mechanical

packages

• Perform component selection including pumps, valves, fittings, motors, instrumentation, and

structural elements

• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and customer specifications


Engineering Analysis

• Perform tolerance analysis, thermal considerations, and mechanical calculations

• Evaluate material compatibility, corrosion resistance, pressure ratings, and system performance

• Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting of field issues and production challenges

• Review and improve existing product designs for manufacturability, cost reduction, and

reliability


Manufacturing & Production Support

• Collaborate with fabrication, assembly, and purchasing teams to support production

• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)

• Support prototype builds, testing, commissioning, and product validation

• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for custom components and fabrication requirements

Project Leadership

• Lead engineering projects from concept through release

• Interface directly with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders

• Manage multiple projects, schedules, and engineering priorities simultaneously

• Mentor junior engineers and designers



Requirements:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• 5–10+ years of mechanical design engineering experience

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid systems, fabrication, and manufacturing

processes

• Experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly documentation

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities


Preferred

• Experience with fuel oil systems, pump skids, process piping, and industrial control systems

• Familiarity with ASME standards, NFPA requirements, and UL-related design considerations

• Experience working in industrial manufacturing or custom equipment environments

• FEA or engineering analysis experience

• ERP/PDM/PLM system experience
