Job description

The Presales CAD Engineer AMER IMS is a Structural Solutions Specialist, a crucial member of the Integrated Modular Solutions team during the early engagement phases of customer programs. The position will require competencies in computer-aided design software applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks to provide design and documentation of structural, mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems required to represent system level solutions to our customers.


Key skills: Expert AutoCAD 2D and 3D designer


Note: This is not a sales role but the CAD Designer will be part of the sales team in developing new product design before the contract is signed and moved to manufacturing.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reading and understanding RFP and tender documents
  • Reading and understanding customer requirements provided by SA and sales team
  • Concept design of data center architecture and equipment
  • Understanding of relevant architectural and structural codes and standards
  • CAD Modeling
  • Understanding passive fire protection design and requirements
  • Coordination with other technical disciplines (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection)
  • Dimensioning and specification of structural and architectural parts of the modular building
  • Technical project coordination with customers and suppliers
  • Communication with customers in order to propose the best solution
  • Making technical proposals for Vertiv modular solutions data centers
  • Providing design documents
  • Problem solving and interpretation of customer requirements in proposed solutions
  • Support SA and sales team
  • Solution-based thinking that will incorporate a multitude of Structural and Mechanical components to an end-customer deployment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience
  • Proficient in structural and mechanical system design including end user interface applications
  • Strong CAD capabilities including the ability to represent site, structural and system layouts, as well as custom designs and associated pre-fabricated data center infrastructure systems
  • Solution-based thinking that will incorporate a multitude of Mechanical and Electrical components to an end-customer deployment
  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams to bring architectures and concepts to deployment
  • PC skills: active user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), AutoCAD
  • Key skills are- CAD 2D design experience is a must. Revit or any 3D modelling software is a preference. Experience in civil/construction/architecture (traditional or modular) is preferred.
