Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Database Administrator designs, administers and maintains enterprise database systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL and/or Progress. Works with development and infrastructure teams to implement new applications, enhancements, and upgrades. Tunes the databases for optimal performance and recommends improvements in the environment.
The Database Administrator will assist developers with tuning of code to ensure successful implementations and provides support for database architecture and systems.  The Database Administrator participates in disaster recovery tests and manages backup processes and monitors growth of systems to proactively prevent issues from occurring.  The Database Administrator will provide database design and support for application and infrastructure projects and acts as a database subject matter expert.

Intermediate RDBMS skills in one or more of the following: SQL Server, Oracle, Progress, MySQL or DB2

Intermediate skills in UNIX, Windows and/or mainframe Operating Systems

Good time/project management skills

Good attention to detail

Good problem solving skills

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Computer Science
