Job description

Position Summary

The Automotive Merchandising Admin is a key member of the Used Car Operations team responsible for ensuring that every used vehicle across Dan Cummins Auto Group is accurately represented, professionally merchandised, and positioned for maximum online visibility.

This position manages and maintains vehicle information across the Auto Group's inventory platforms, ensuring customers receive accurate and compelling information when shopping online. The Automotive Merchandising Amin will regularly update vehicle descriptions, specifications, attributes, and merchandising details while monitoring third-party automotive marketplaces such as CarGurus to ensure accuracy of vehicle details.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date merchandising information for all used vehicles throughout Dan Cummins Auto Group.
  • Create, edit, and update vehicle descriptions to accurately highlight each vehicle's features, equipment, condition, and selling points.
  • Verify and correct vehicle attributes, including but not limited to:
    • Interior and exterior color
    • Trim level
    • Transmission
    • Drivetrain
    • Engine information
    • Body style
    • Fuel type
  • Review vehicle information for accuracy and consistency across internal inventory systems and online marketplaces.
  • Monitor and maintain vehicle merchandising on third-party platforms, including CarGurus..
  • Identify and correct discrepancies between dealership inventory information and third-party listings.
  • Ensure vehicles are presented accurately and competitively across digital marketplaces.
  • Review online listings for missing, incorrect, or outdated information and make appropriate corrections.
  • Ensure newly acquired used vehicles receive accurate merchandising information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consistency in vehicle descriptions and attributes across the Auto Group.
  • Help ensure online vehicle listings meet company standards for accuracy, completeness, and presentation.
  • Perform routine quality-control audits of used inventory and third-party listings.
  • Stay current on changes to automotive marketplace requirements, merchandising practices, and digital inventory platforms.
Qualifications
  • Automotive dealership experience preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with used vehicle inventory, automotive merchandising, vAuto, CarGurus, or similar platforms is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in vehicle information.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with multiple computer systems and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of inventory while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Basic understanding of automotive terminology and vehicle specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced dealership environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, technologically comfortable, and highly familiar with automobiles. They understand that accurate online merchandising directly impacts a customer's perception of a vehicle and can recognize the importance of getting even small details right.

This person should take ownership of the accuracy and presentation of the Auto Group's used inventory and have a strong eye for identifying opportunities to make vehicles more accurate, more informative, and more appealing to online shoppers.
