Job Summary:

The HPC Software Engineer โ Advanced role involves developing and supporting geoscience applications for a subsurface imaging team, collaborating with researchers to deliver advanced seismic imaging solutions using a high-performance computing environment.
Responsibilities:
โข Work within a scrum team as a software developer to develop and support proprietary applications used for seismic imaging
โข Collaborate closely with researchers to support ongoing research and help transition prototype code into production-ready applications
โข Support internal business partners across a globally distributed user base
โข Optimize applications to improve HPC system utilization and increase throughput of seismic processing workloads
โข Collaborate with HPC systems engineers and geoscientists to influence decisions on future hardware and system architecture
Qualifications:
Required:
โข Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, or related field
โข Several years of C/C++ experience with scientific computing codes and applications using parallel computing, with a strong understanding of algorithmic complexity and performance implications
โข Experience working in a Linux environment
โข Ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross-functional team
โข Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
โข Self-motivated and driven to learn and grow
โข Safety-oriented mindset โ the safety and well-being of employees is a top priority
Preferred:
โข Python, modern C++ (C++11 and later), and Unix shell scripting (primarily BASH)
โข Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles
โข Experience with parallel computing technologies (e.g., OpenMP, MPI, CUDA)
โข Familiarity with source control and work tracking tools (e.g., Git, TFS)
โข Experience integrating or working with third-party APIs
โข Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) software development process
โข Knowledge of simulation software development, particularly in seismic imaging or geoscience domains
โข Experience with performance analysis tools (Intel VTune, NVIDIA Nsight, gprof)
