2027GRP Position:

The Engineering and Technology Innovation Computational Fluid Dynamics Group is looking for an Aerodynamics Engineering intern to join the team in St. Louis, Missouri. The Computational Fluid Dynamics group develops and applies advanced aerodynamic analysis tools and processes to a wide variety of flight platforms across the speed range ranging from low-speed/high-lift to supersonic flight. The products and services of this group cover the complete product life cycle of Boeing's commercial and militaryaircraftand advanced vehicle concepts.

The role will involve enhancing an internal CFD code to include more time-dependent modeling effects, both in terms of fluids and multi-disciplinary analysis. Efforts to increase efficiency of the aerodynamic simulation process or to benchmark current capabilities may also be performed. This work will involve collaboration with both code developers and application engineers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Job Related Information /BasicQualifications:

  • Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027

  • Pursing a PhD inAeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field of study

  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027

  • Experience in development of aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools and processes with the goal of increasing fidelity while reducing cycle time and cost

  • Experience with compressible flows and turbulence modeling

  • Fundamental knowledge of computational fluid dynamics

  • Background in range of numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD
