Where is the work:

On-Site (5 days)

The test position is for the compressor station at Plant 3. This position includes testing equipment after assembly, troubleshooting unit issues by reading schematics and using troubleshooting tools such as Volt Meters. The position may include supporting all Arctic lines in Grand Rapids and may require off shift and weekend work, along with overtime. The operator may work with engineering, managers and lead techs on maintaining flow to the lines. The operator will be required to work around live low voltage and high voltage, so electrical safety knowledge is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must have good knowledge and experience in basic mechanical maintenance, electronics, wiring schemes and electrical work and how they work together.

Ability to braze.

Must have great knowledge in electrical safety.

Must have excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to read schematics and use a variety of different tools such as a Volt Meter, Hipot and Calipers.

Basic programming skills is preferred.

Good verbal communication and excellent analytical/problem solving skills.

Detail oriented, organized, ability to manage multiple tasks.

Ability to work in a team setting and demonstrate a positive work attitude.

Must have the ability to keep up with high volume in a fast-moving environment.

Follows company safety policies.

Promotes company safety policies to team members and subcontractors.

Provides technical support to customers when required on assigned projects.

Provides technical support, service, or training at customer site when needed.

Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.

Supports the QMS by delivering quality products and services and meeting quality objectives.

Works to consistently meet and exceed customer requirements.

Continuously strives for operational excellence and continuous. Improvement.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Highschool or GED
  • Must possess basic math skills, understanding of decimals and fractions for measurement.
  • Ability to read and write English for assembly directions, Work Order packets and safety instructions.
  • Completion of basic Safety Orientation
  • Good verbal communication and excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a team setting and demonstrate a positive work attitude
  • Must have the ability to keep up with high volume in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to learn more than 1 station

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires working mainly in a typical semi-conditioned shop environment and occasionally in a typical conditioned office environment.
  • The noise level in the shop environment is usually loud.
  • The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job required in the shop, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), and fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally, working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms, in extreme weather conditions, and in areas with vibration is possible.
