Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mechanical Engineers are responsible for using engineering principles to design and implement cost-effective, reliable parts, and systems to improve customer operational results. They also oversee projects from conceptual design to implementation.
KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Formulates design criteria, develops conceptual designs, performs detailed designs, and develops materials & manufacturing specifications using research, analytical skills, conceptual & planning skills, and computer-aided design.
  • Prepares design/manufacturing cost estimates for use in sales quotations.
  • Assists drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or CAD equipment and software, and reviews & approves final drawings/prints.
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Helps to ensure production goals are met by working with Manufacturing, Q/C, and suppliers to clearly outline product specifications, discuss manufacturing process issues, and resolve production problems in a timely manner.
  • Develops test procedures and performs various product tests including stress and flow analyses on manufactured products to ensure they meet customer design standards.
  • Conducts field studies to quantify and document achieved field performance of products.
  • Provides technical and field support to customers.
  • Provides training/mentoring to less experienced departmental staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Effective communication, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or Fusion.
  • Solid project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of compressors and manufacturing methods.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point.
  • Detail oriented; focus on accuracy; self-motivated.
  • Problem solver with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Seal and Polymer development experience is preferred.
  • A PE is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering or field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years' related experience in engineering or related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work; to sit, stand, and walk on level, uneven, or slippery surfaces; frequently reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various District sites; and vision to inspect and operate equipment.
• Exerts up to 50 pounds of force and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
• Able to withstand extreme weather conditions at remote compressor stations during periodic field visits.
