Your Mission

HOERBIGER is seeking a highly accomplished Engineering Director to lead our North American engineering organization. This executive leadership role will shape technical strategy, strengthen engineering capability, drive innovation, and support sustainable business growth across the region.

The Engineering Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the NAM Engineering organization. This role is accountable for engineering excellence, technical capability development, innovation, product and service support, customer-facing technical leadership, and alignment with global engineering strategies. The position leads multidisciplinary engineering teams across application engineering, compressor engineering, technical support, design, and engineering development activities. The Engineering Director serves as a key member of the North America leadership team and drives customer value, operational efficiency, talent development, and sustainable business growth.

How you will make a difference
  • Develop and execute the North American engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives and global engineering priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers, technical experts, and engineering teams across the region.
  • Establish a high-performance engineering culture focused on accountability, innovation, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Service, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Global Engineering.
  • Drive engineering support for strategic customer opportunities, complex technical challenges, and key accounts.
  • Ensure engineering standards, technical quality, compliance, and risk management practices are consistently applied.
  • Champion innovation initiatives, process improvements, digital tools, and engineering best practices.
  • Manage engineering budgets, workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, industry stakeholders, and technical organizations.
  • Monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, profitability, and engineering performance.
What you should be good at
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience within industrial equipment, rotating equipment, compression, energy, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading managers and multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Demonstrated success driving technical excellence, organizational transformation, and business results.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence executive stakeholders.
  • Experience managing large-scale engineering programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills.
