Job description

Position Summary

Gabrielli Truck Sales is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) experience and the ability to perform road service repairs. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks both in the shop and at customer locations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, self-motivated, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service while minimizing vehicle downtime.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered medium- and heavy-duty trucks, including Mack, Volvo, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, and other commercial vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, steering, brake, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and emission systems.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel systems while following all applicable safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs on CNG tanks, fuel lines, regulators, valves, and related components.
  • Respond to customer locations for roadside service calls, emergency breakdowns, and mobile repairs.
  • Operate a company road service vehicle safely and professionally.
  • Accurately diagnose vehicle issues in the field and perform repairs to return equipment to service whenever possible.
  • Communicate repair status, recommendations, and estimated completion times with customers and service advisors.
  • Complete electronic repair orders, inspections, and warranty documentation accurately and on time.
  • Utilize manufacturer diagnostic software, service manuals, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing manufacturer and company training programs.
  • Assist other technicians as needed and support overall shop productivity.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in diesel technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of diesel repair experience on medium- or heavy-duty trucks.
  • Previous CNG vehicle repair experience required.
  • Previous road service/mobile technician experience preferred.
  • Experience with Mack, Volvo, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, or other commercial truck brands is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, aftertreatment systems, and diagnostics.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and repair procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications
  • OEM Certifications (Mack, Volvo, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, etc.)
  • CNG Fuel System Certification
  • EPA Section 609 Certification (preferred)
License Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • CDL Class A or B preferred or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements for operating road service vehicles.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to roadside service calls during scheduled shifts and participate in an on-call rotation if required.
