Position SummaryHours: 3PM-11PM Monday through Friday
The Compounder Team Lead is an hourly, hands-on role within Manufacturing Operations at Energizer Holdings in Dayton, Ohio, reporting directly to the Blending Supervisor. This position serves as a floor-level technical and operational resource in the blending and compounding areas, supporting daily production activities and reinforcing adherence to Safety, Quality, GMP, and Standard Work requirements. The role provides guidance, training, and operational support to colleagues without formal supervisory authority and assists in maintaining production flow, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced, non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Serve as a floor-level technical and operational resource, providing guidance, instruction, and on-the-job training to support adherence to Safety, Quality, and Standard Work procedures.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment by encouraging open communication, teamwork, and respectful interaction among colleagues.
- Support daily operational priorities by helping coordinate tasks, sequencing work activities, and reinforcing production goals as communicated by supervision.
- Assist with monitoring production performance and highlighting trends, concerns, or opportunities related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.
- Help develop colleague capabilities by identifying training needs, reinforcing standard practices, and providing informal coaching and feedback.
- Listen to colleague feedback and assist with resolving day-to-day workflow issues, escalating concerns to the Blending Supervisor as appropriate.
- Actively assist colleagues to maintain required production output, including supporting equipment operation, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeovers, and adjusting machine cycles to meet production targets.
- Collaborate with Technical, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality personnel during equipment installations, repairs, adjustments, and process improvement activities.
- Verify that production lines are adequately supplied with materials to support uninterrupted operations and production metrics.
- Perform work in alignment with established Safety, Quality, GMP, and Standard Work procedures, as well as verbal instructions from supervision.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of operational procedures and demonstrate process proficiency across blending and compounding activities.
- Provide operational backup and relief support as needed to maintain production continuity and meet departmental goals.
- Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with Visual Management and 5S standards, identifying and addressing abnormalities.
- Accurately complete and maintain required production, quality, inventory, and batch-related records in compliance with GMP requirements.
- Support and help facilitate daily start-up, shift-transition, and high-performance meetings.
- Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move chemicals and materials to and from inventory locations.
- Actively participate in the site's continuous improvement culture by identifying waste and supporting RPS (Rapid Problem Solving) and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) activities.
- Promptly escalate issues or risks that may impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, or Cost to the Blending Supervisor.
- Apply specific knowledge of chemical properties to ensure safe handling, blending, and storage of materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business and operational needs.
We we are looking forRequired Education, Skills & Experience- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of chemical mixing or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience serving in a lead, senior operator, or functional support role within manufacturing (formal supervisory experience not required).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent forklift experience, defined as hands-on operation within the past 12 months, in a manufacturing or chemical-handling environment.
- Demonstrated ability to safely and proficiently operate forklifts to support blending and compounding operations; forklift certification required or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
- Strong working knowledge of blending/compounding operations, equipment, and chemical handling practices.
- Demonstrated ability to apply problem-solving methodologies, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Ability to support daily work coordination, reinforce production priorities, and communicate operational issues effectively.
- Proven ability to train, coach, and support colleagues through hands-on instruction and standard work reinforcement.
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost through continuous improvement efforts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to escalate issues impacting key metrics.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to follow and reinforce Safety, Quality, GMP, and Standard Work procedures.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Working experience with SAP (inventory transactions and work orders) and Master Control (batch records, SDS, labeling).
- Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Commitment to following all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and regulations.
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience- Lean Manufacturing certification (Yellow Belt or higher).
- Experience participating in or supporting RPS (Rapid Problem Solving) and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) events.
- Demonstrated experience creating, following, and improving standard work procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of Visual Management and 5S practices.
- Experience supporting production meetings, startup meetings, or shift handoffs.
