Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, will perform a full range of duties in the Moores Cancer Center and the Koman Outpatient Pavillion pharmacy setting. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications (including antineoplastics/chemotherapy) for patient use for IV sterile compounding preparation & administration in accordance to established procedures under USP 797/800, assist in the distributions of medications via Pyxis Med Station A Stations; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned area.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharm Tech II or Pharm Tech III.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required for Pharmacy Tech III.

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required for both Pharmacy Tech II/III.

  • Minimum of two (2) years for Pharmacy Tech II of relevant experience (Infusion pharmacy, sterile compounding, inpatient pharmacy).

  • Minimum of five (5) years for Pharmacy Tech III of relevant experience (Infusion pharmacy, sterile compounding, inpatient pharmacy).

  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.

  • Ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environment.

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Infusion Pharmacy experience.

  • Two - five (2 - 5) years of previous IV and Chemo experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,339 - $72,537 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.94 - $34.74

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
