Location: RMC Facility - Lake Butler, Florida
Position: Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding
  • This position supports sterile compounding operations, inventory management, quality assurance activities, and daily pharmacy workflow in a fast-paced environment serving infusion pharmacy patients.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM
Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare sterile compounded medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Follow USP <797> and USP <800> standards for sterile and hazardous compounding.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and cleanroom procedures.
  • Perform pharmacy calculations and accurately prepare compounded products.
  • Assist with preparation, labeling, packaging, and shipment of infusion medications.
  • Maintain compounding logs, batch records, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving medications and supplies.
  • Support expiration date monitoring and product rotation.
  • Maintain cleanroom equipment and assist with environmental monitoring activities.
  • Assist pharmacists with medication order processing and prescription fulfillment.
  • Ensure compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing training programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, healthcare professionals, and internal team members.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations by utilizing appropriate PPE at all times while performing job duties and working in designated areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding principles and aseptic technique.
  • Understanding of USP <797> and USP <800> requirements.
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations related to medication preparation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and focus for prolonged periods while performing tasks requiring a high degree of accuracy in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and technology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Minimum one (1) year of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding in compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Ability to work in a sterile compounding environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management and pharmacy operations.
Physical Requirements/Strengths needed & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to bend, reach overhead, stoop, lift, stir, walk, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • The employee is required to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift/move objects.
  • Able to reach, carry, finger, grasp and feel objects related to duties.
  • Able to maintain manual dexterity sufficient to manually manipulate syringes, vials, needles, IV bags, and other compounding materials.
  • Able to consistently wear and properly maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
