Job description

The Role

As a Life Sciences Inside Sales Representative (ISR) at STERIS, you are responsiblefor indirectly impacting sales growth by providing comprehensive and technical sales support to current and potential Customers for Life Sciences Consumables product portfolio. You will serve as a generalist for product information including answering calls and providing information to Customers following appropriate departmental standards required to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of information. By providing this comprehensive sales support infrastructure, you will accelerate the throughput of business and enable our Account Managers to sell more, save time and focus on larger new opportunities.

This is a hybrid (in-office/work from home) position, and will require two days per week in the Mentor, OH office (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

What you will do as an Inside Sales Representative
  • Provide appropriate, prompt, technical information to STERIS Life Sciences Customers within alternate markets such as, but not limited to, Cosmetics, Compounding, Cannabis, Food, and Nutritionals.
  • Responsible for quote generation, follow up and comprehensive end to end process management; expedite access to marketing materials and product information; deliver product and pricing information to accelerate Customer decision making.
  • Establish trust and build strong business relationships within the assigned field team being served such as Customer Operations, E-Businesses, Distribution, etc.
  • Partner with Account Managers to determine appropriate strategic sales approach.
  • Effectively communicate the strengths and competitive advantages of STERIS products, services and technologies and how the application of these can assist the Customer in meeting their objectives.
  • Use current available tools to provide a total solution to the Customer to ensure their needs are met.
  • Maintain the CRM database for individual accounts, utilize CRM database to help manage business and profile Customers.
  • Manage and pursue opportunities from a Hunt Listofestablished and potential Customers, to generate leads and ensure Customer satisfaction of previous and ongoing sales.
  • Research and define Customer location, key contracts, products manufactured, manufacturing methods, and scope of operations for benefit of territory.
  • Communicate with internal departments (Customer Service, Finance, Marketing, Sales) to overcome issues with sales orders.
  • Probe to fully uncover and understand Customer needs, objectives and goals and effectively matches our productsto assist in solving Customer issues.
  • Anticipate and share emerging trends affecting Life Sciences Customers with Sales and Marketing leaders to ensure that STERIS's response is ahead of competitor's responses.
  • Attend annual developmental sales, product, and industry application training or trade events to increase industry and internal knowledge and skills for future sales.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 1 year of demonstrated history of successful sales performance
    • Ability to travel overnight up to 20%
  • Preferred:
    • Degree in Science, Engineering or Manufacturing
    • Experience and/or educational background in Biology, Chemistry or Microtechnology
    • Experience selling technical products/services
    • Experience in capital, service, or consumables business
    • Current knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry subject matter and regulatory requirements
  • Other:
    • Ability to learn in collaboration with technical experts internal to STERIS as well as outside the organization
    • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft systems (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Demonstrates solid organizational skills, good judgement, and ability to think analytically

Pay range for this opportunity is $40,000-$51,500. This position is incentive plan eligible, at target earnings of $75,000-$86,000, depending on performance.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
