Familiarity with compounding equipment, pharmacy management systems, and USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong communication skills help ensure accuracy, patient safety, and effective collaboration with healthcare providers. These competencies are vital for producing customized medications safely and meeting unique patient needs in compliance with legal and professional standards.

What is a compound pharmacy?

A compound pharmacy is a specialized pharmacy that prepares customized medications tailored to the specific needs of individual patients. Unlike traditional pharmacies that dispense mass-produced medications, compound pharmacies mix ingredients to create unique formulations, dosages, or forms that may not be commercially available. These services are especially helpful for patients with allergies, sensitivities, or specific requirements, such as flavor preferences or alternative dosage forms. Compound pharmacists work closely with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective medication solutions.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in a compound pharmacy, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in a compound pharmacy often face challenges such as maintaining strict quality control, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing customized patient prescriptions. Since compounding involves preparing medications tailored to individual needs, attention to detail and clear communication with prescribers are crucial. Staying updated with regulatory guidelines and participating in ongoing training helps address these challenges, while collaboration with pharmacists, technicians, and healthcare providers ensures safe and effective patient care.

Job description

  • This isn't your typical pharmacy tech job.

No insurance claims. No drive-through window. No retail chaos. At Triangle Compounding Pharmacy, you'll spend your days doing precise, meaningful work โ€” entering and processing custom prescriptions for patients who truly need them. Every compound we make is built specifically for one person, and your accuracy is what makes that possible.

If you're a detail-driven pharmacy tech who's ready to trade the grind of retail or hospital pharmacy for a focused, supportive environment with real work-life balance, this is worth a close look.

    Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an organized, accurate, and reliable Order Entry Pharmacy Technician who takes pride in getting things right. You'll be the backbone of our prescription workflow โ€” someone who can move with purpose, catch details others miss, and communicate clearly when questions come up.

You don't need a compounding background. You do need to be the kind of person who shows up, stays focused, and genuinely cares about doing quality work.

    What Your Day Looks Like

  • Enter and process prescriptions accurately into our pharmacy software (approximately 80% of your role)

  • Support packaging, labeling, and dispensing under pharmacist supervision

  • Handle incoming calls and assist patients with prescription questions

  • Contribute to smooth, timely daily pharmacy operations

  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain our high standards of care

Ready to join a team where your work has real meaning? Apply with your cover letter and resume โ€” we'd love to meet you.

Triangle Compounding Pharmacy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

What We Offer

$17โ€“$20/hr based on experience

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401(k) with match

The stability and pride of working at North Carolina's first PCAB-accredited compounding pharmacy

Company Description

About Triangle Compounding Pharmacy
Triangle Compounding Pharmacy (TCP) is an independently owned, 503A-licensed compounding pharmacy serving patients and prescribers across North Carolina and beyond. Triangle Compounding Pharmacy was the first PCAB-accredited pharmacy in North Carolina and the first 503B FDA-registered outsourcing facility. We specialize in personalized, non-sterile compounded medications โ€” including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, pain management, dermatology, men's health, pediatric formulations, and an expanding longevity product portfolio that includes NAD+ therapy, oral peptide protocols, and custom ED formulations.
We are in an exciting period of strategic growth. The board has approved an ambitious expansion into the longevity pharmacy space, including new product categories, a new BD function, a clinic partnership program, and new oral solid dosage capabilities. As we scale, we need an experienced operational leader who can build the infrastructure, systems, and culture to support that growth โ€” while solving the real operational challenges we face today.
We specialize in custom sterile and non-sterile compounding for patients whose needs simply aren't met by commercially available medications. Our work spans hormone therapy, pain management, weight loss, veterinary care, pediatric formulations, and more โ€” each prescription made specifically for the individual patient, not the average.
With ISO-certified clean rooms, rigorous quality standards, and a pharmacist-led team that has earned the trust of providers and patients across multiple states, Triangle Compounding is where precision and personalized care come together. If you're looking to bring your skills somewhere that genuinely raises the bar โ€” and where the work you do matters โ€” you've found the right place.
