Composite Technician - Kinston, NC | $35/hr - $37/hr | 4-Month Contract
About the Role
Join a world-class aerospace manufacturing team as a Composite Technician at our Kinston, North Carolina facility. This hands-on opportunity puts you at the forefront of advanced aircraft component fabrication, offering exposure to cutting-edge technologies and a supportive, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities
- Layout, assemble, pre-fit, and bond metal, composite, and laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, and equipment
- Interpret and follow engineering and manufacturing specifications, work orders, prints, and charts
- Cut materials to precise dimensions and operate autoclaves, hydraulic presses, and ovens for bonding cycles
- Sand, burr, smooth, and apply sealing resins to composite components and edges
- Perform detailed rework or repairs and monitor quality to ensure compliance with controlled procedures
- Utilize optical and precision lay-up tools, shop mathematics, and measuring instruments for complex assemblies
- Prepare assemblies for bonding and paint using solvents and cleaning solutions per protocol
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure tool/equipment certification as required
- Move products within the manufacturing area and support continuous workflow, including mentoring colleagues across classification levels
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, FOD, and OSHA standards at all times
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in aviation production or equivalent manufacturing environment
- Skilled in lay-ups, assembly, pre-fitting, and bonding of composite/metal parts and equipment
- Comfortable using a variety of hand and power tools
- Strong verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly and maintain confidentiality
- Proficient in computer-based documentation and data entry (SAP and Excel experience highly valued)
- Willingness and flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed
- High School Diploma/GED or WorkKeys Assessment completion
- Ability to complete employer-provided training in Health & Safety, Aircraft Familiarization, and Quality
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years' experience in aviation production
- Vocational school training or prior employer training in composite lay-ups/fabrication
