Job Summary

The Auto Composites Molding Fabricator is responsible for fabricating high-performance composite components (carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar) using advanced molding and layup techniques. This role requires precision, strict adherence to technical process sheets, and skilled hand execution to create lightweight structural and aesthetic automotive parts for high-end, aftermarket, or motorsport applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Molding & Layup: Perform wet layup, pre-preg layup, and resin infusion (VARTM) into molds for structural body panels, chassis components, and specialized interior trim.

• Mold Preparation: Clean, seal, and apply release agents to single and multi-piece tooling to ensure flawless part release and clean surface finishes.

• Vacuum Bagging: Set up vacuum bagging systems (sealant tape, breather cloth, peel ply, vacuum valves) and perform leak checks to ensure proper consolidation during cure cycles.

• Curing Operations: Load and monitor components through oven or autoclave cure cycles according to specific ramp-up, dwell, and cool-down profiles.

• Demolding & Trimming: Carefully demold cured parts, inspect for structural integrity, and perform initial trimming using pneumatic tools, routers, or bandsaws.

• Core & Reinforcement Insertion: Position foam cores, honeycomb materials, and hardware inserts within composite layups according to engineering schematics.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 1+ years in composite fabrication, fiberglass work, mold making, or automotive/aerospace manufacturing.

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fabric weave orientation, resin-to-fiber ratios, vacuum pressure dynamics, and cure cycles.

• Skillset: Proficiency with hand tools (shears, rotary tools, vacuum pumps, pressure gauges) and precision measuring equipment.

• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ply orientation schedules, and manufacturing process specifications (MPS).

• Physical Demands: Good manual dexterity, ability to work in physical positions requiring standing or bending, and capability to lift materials/molds up to 50 lbs.

• Safety Adherence: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing required PPE (respirators, safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves) when handling resins, catalysts, and fibers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pre-preg carbon fiber fabrication and autoclave operations.

• Familiarity with mold construction (making composite tooling from master plugs).

• Experience in high-end automotive restoration, performance race team fabrication, or marine/aerospace composites.

• Day Shift, 6am to 6 pm

• Monday - Friday. Some Saturdays (Rotating Schedule)

• Auto Composites Molding Fabricator experience preferred

• GED / High School Diploma

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

• Able to pass a background check

• Able to work in the US

• Capable of reading and understanding production documents and safety manuals

• Previous experience working in a factory is beneficial

• Experience operating manufacturing machinery

• Able to work as part of a team

• Good communication skills

• Basic math skills

• Physical dexterity

• Available for shift work

• Able to pass a backgroundcheck

• Able to work in the US
