Job description

HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Senior Export & Sanctions Compliance Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the export and sanctions compliance program for a large multi-national company while ensuring compliance with EAR, ITAR, and OFAC rules and regulations.
This is a hybrid position based near Lake Forest, IL. Relocation assistance is available.

EXPECTATIONS

· Serve as the ITAR Empowered Official
· Resolve transaction holds, restricted party screening matches, licensing questions, and end-use/end-user concerns
· Monitor regulatory changes, assess business impact, and drive risk mitigation strategies
· Conduct regular operational audits and compliance risk assessments
· Manage workflows for export and sanctions reviews
· Create export and sanctions compliance policies, governance, and training programs
· Use data analytics and audits to detect potential non-compliance
· Support investigations including root cause analysis, remediation, and corrective action tracking
· Provide strategic guidance to upper-level leaders on export and sanctions matters
· Lead and mentor the export compliance team

ESSENTIALS

· 10+ years of trade compliance experience in multinational corporations
· Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
· Strong understanding of export and sanctions regulations including EAR, ITAR, and OFAC
· Experience developing and implementing export and sanctions policies and procedures
· Solid understanding working with customs other government agencies 
· Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills
· Certified Export Compliance Officer (CECO) or similar export compliance certifications a plus
· Ability to navigate between operations guidance and export compliance strategy
