Job description

CHI Health Immanuel, located in North Omaha just off of I-680 on 72nd Street, offers a full-service hospital, cancer center, rehabilitation center, specialty spine hospital and more. As our Mental Health Tech, you will be vital support for Behavioral Health's front and back office functions, assisting psychiatrists, patients, and the care management team. You'll ensure smooth operations, quality medication management, and clinical problem-solving.
Every day you will provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients. You'll manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones, while also handling back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.
To be successful, you need strong multitasking, meticulous attention to detail, and a rapid ability to learn complex information accurately. Exceptional customer service, calm under pressure, EHR proficiency, and strict confidentiality are essential, along with flexibility to float.

  • Assists patients through a trauma informed care atmosphere in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression through promoting an environment in which the patient can problem-solve and test out new behaviors.
  • Assists the patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns through providing feedback and positive reinforcement, consistently applying program rights and regulations, behavior modification program and communicating in an appropriate manner with the patients.
  • Provides appropriate emergency care and maintains a safe environment. Maintains a secure environment and acts as a resource for emergency situations. Performs basic nursing tasks (i.e. but not limited to: vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection, accu checks, weighing and assisting with ADL). Assists the nurse in carrying out orders that are within the scope of practice.
  • Provides trauma informed care and supervision to patients needing physical restraints or seclusion.
  • Assists the patient in dealing with relationship difficulties, supports and teaches appropriate socializations skills. Facilitates Its various supportive, classroom educational (where appropriate) and psych-educational activities.
  • Communicates effectively utilizing both verbal and writing methods within a diverse and multicultural environment. Maintains appropriate communication networks and harmonious working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team and other departments, through participating in staff meetings, quality assurance activities, safety, security and infection control programs, program development and implementation and all additional training assigned by leadership.

Required

  • Must be at least 20 years old 
  • High School Graduate and with at least 1 year of experience in mental health., upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support

Preferred

  • Bachelors Other in Human Service field or one year experience in the Behavioral Health field is preferred, upon hire or
  • Graduate of aPsychiatric Assistant and Nurse Aide training program , upon hire
