Air Products is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to serve as the environmental leader for our US HyCO (Hydrogen & Syngas) operations. In this highly visible role, you will set and drive environmental strategy, governance, and performance while ensuring full compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Reporting directly to the Regional HyCO Vice President & General Manager, this role provides the opportunity to influence environmental outcomes at a strategic level while supporting the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of critical industrial assets. Typical travel will be approximately 25%, with periods of increased travel up to 50% based on site needs and business priorities.

This position has a direct and lasting impact on how Air Products operates across a diverse portfolio of largescale, highly regulated hydrogen and syngas production facilities. As the primary environmental authority for US HyCO, you will lead complex regulatory engagements, shape environmental risk management strategies, and help guide the organization through evolving regulatory and sustainability expectations. Your leadership will play a key role in strengthening regulatory credibility, improving environmental performance, and supporting business growth aligned with the energy transition.

In addition to setting strategy, you will champion Air Products' environmental culture by partnering closely with Operations, Business, Engineering, and functional leadership teams. You will provide handson environmental leadership through training, site assessments, incident investigations, audits, and performance reviews, while driving continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence and compliance across multiple sites.

A critical aspect of this role is building and developing a highperforming environmental organization. You will actively identify and develop talent by understanding individual strengths, aligning capabilities with the right responsibilities, and coaching environmental professionals and site leaders. Through thoughtful resource management and prioritization, you will build a strong succession pipeline and ensure the team remains focused on the most impactful initiatives that support both nearterm performance and longterm organizational capability.

Additional Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and drive environmental strategy aligned with Air Products' EHS Management System, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and Air Products standards, with a goal of zero environmental incidents.
  • Serve as the primary environmental authority for US HyCO operations, leading complex regulatory interactions with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide environmental leadership through training, site assessments, incident investigations, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and implement environmental risk management plans and KPI reporting across the HyCO subregion.
  • Lead environmental incident trend analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and external EHS reviews.
  • Coach and mentor site leaders, operations teams, and environmental professionals; develop highpotential talent within the organization.
  • Support environmental due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions and business growth initiatives.

Required Skills / Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance programs, and regulatory engagement strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, matrixed, and multisite industrial organizations.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring programs, emissions testing, and compliance reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative teams lead others even if a formal reporting relationship does not exist. Strong interest in developing and leading a high performing team.
Minimum Hiring Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical) or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial, petrochemical, or gas environments with progressive environmental or EHS leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading environmental programs in complex, highhazard facilities.
Working Conditions
  • Multisite support role.
  • Typical travel is approximately 25%, with periods of increased travel up to 50% based on site needs and business priorities.
  • Main office location may be either in either Houston, TX, La Porte, TX, Gonzales, LA, or Prairieville, LA.
