Minimum Qualifications We Requireย

What You'll Do in This Positionย 

This description is applicable to Operations & Facilities providing "Best-in-Class" services so our Research & Development Team can focus on "putting science to work."ย 

The Shift Operations Manager (SOM) at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of a facility on a specific shift. This includes ensuring compliance with CONOPS, TSR Controls, procedures, managing personnel, and responding to abnormal events.ย 

Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Ensuring all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with procedures, safety regulations, and DOE orders.ย 
  • Directing and overseeing shift personnel, including training, qualification, and performance management.ย 
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the facility, including monitoring work activities, authorizing changes, and troubleshooting issues.ย 
  • Taking appropriate action during abnormal events, including making notifications, mitigating consequences, and restoring the facility to a safe and stable conditionย 
  • Communicating with other support organizations, facility representatives, and senior management regarding operational status, issues, and event notifications.ย 
  • Identifying and implementing programs for personnel performance improvement and ensuring accountability through performance management.ย 
  • Ensuring that Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs) and Limiting Conditions for Operation (LCOs) are understood and followed by shift personnel.ย 
  • Performing administrative tasks, such as reviewing work packages, developing plans, and authoring reports.ย 
  • A comprehensive understanding of the facility, its systems, and relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.ย 
  • The ability to effectively lead, communicate, and make decisions under pressure.ย 
  • The ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze situations, and make sound decisions in a timely manner.ย
