Job description

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) is a private, non-profit social service agency that has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and well-being for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.

Tina Klem Serenity House: This program is a recovery house for 12 women who have co-occurring substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. The women may also have a history of trauma. Residents are provided with a variety of psycho-educational groups such as life skills training, parenting skills, employment search, anger management, relapse prevention, health and wellness, safety, and coping skills.

Hours Available:  Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
•   Assess and record medical, psychological and social factors to the individuals’ unique circumstances, including an assessment of strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
•  Perform Case Management duties to an assigned case load: make referrals, link clients to community resources, and community recovery and natural supports.  Serve as an advocate.
•   Assist with developing a discharge plan, including housing and aftercare referrals. 
•  Group Facilitation, including Narcan training, 1 key question and MAUD education
•  Provide a positive recovery focused environment
•  Adheres to RNP/QA Accumedic documentation requirements
•  Assumes all other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor
•  Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and case conferences.
•  Ability to establish a rapport with clients and present in a professional manner
•  Ability to project a professional image
•  Ability to de-escalate situations as needed, crisis intervention
• Knowledge of best practices in providing services for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, such as: client-centered care, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
•  Ability to conduct potential new client screenings and intakes
•  Ability to perform Medication Monitoring and documentation.
•  Complete and document hourly rounds
•  Assist with household management including ordering groceries, meal preparation and chores.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, and trauma.
•  Valid CT Driver’s License
•  Considerable knowledge of state and federal confidentiality regulations

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED and 2 years of SUD service experience, Associate's degree in a human services or related field and 1 year of SUD service experience; or Bachelor's degree in a human services or other SUD-related field.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•  Hourly rounds must have the ability to climb stairs
•  Ability to lift 10 lbs
 

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelors degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Co-occurring competencies and or credentials are preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of social service case management.
  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, and trauma.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the provision of quality case.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative processional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

  • Incumbents may be encouraged to secure professional certification (e.g. CAC and/orSCCD).
  • Valid Connecticut drivers license is required.
