Short Description

The Specialty Ambulatory Pharmacy technician provides Pharmacy service support in the medication management clinic to ensure continuity and safe care.

The functions include but are not limited to:

  • Support the pharmacist in gathering health and prescription information.
  • Scheduling and register patients at clinic visit.
  • Complete authorization for prescriptions; obtain supporting documentation for denials.
  • Understand the billing process; troubleshoot insurance issues.
  • Assist with processing of prescription to retail pharmacies.
  • Follow up with patients to ensure compliance with care.
  • Assist with any required responsibilities to ensure safe and complete care.
Experience Required
  • Minimum of 1 year Ambulatory care pharmacy experience required.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Special Requirements
  • Current NJ registration (or eligible on hire).
  • Must register with the NJ Board of Pharmacy during the first 10days of employment.
  • Must complete registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy and become an active registered Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire.
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification (PTCB) or greater than 10 years hospital or equivalent pharmacy experience required.
  • Completion of basic pharmaceutical calculations
  • Knowledge of medication therapy management (MTM).
  • Prescription authorization.
