JOB TITLE: Behavioral Health ConsultantFair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Non-exemptReports to: Integrated Care DirectorJOB SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) fulfills a critical role by conducting assessments, consultations, and targeted, behaviorally based interventions with patients and families at Spectra Health. The BHC is a licensed behavioral health professional who demonstrates compassion, trust, and respect within an integrated health care team. With most patients preferring to receive their mental health treatment in a primary care setting, the BHC is essential in creating a patient-centered environment. This role partners with professionals in primary care, dental, social services, and addiction treatment. The BHC ensures that psychological and behavioral concerns are addressed. Supervision toward the LPCC license may be provided.Working knowledge of motivational interviewing and other evidence-based interventions. Comfort working within a primary care setting and with an interdisciplinary team.A belief in the principles of trauma informed care and harm reduction.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Preferred:Experience in a Primary Care Behavioral Health Model.Prior experience working with diverse population groups.Experience and/or knowledge of evidence-based treatment and intervention for people experiencing substance use disorders.WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical setting and requires some hands-on patient care.OSHA category: High risk. Job requires performance of tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Behavioral Health Consultant is primarily a desk job that requires the ability to sit for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) at a desk or workstation. This position requires the ability to respond to patients' needs regardless of where they are physically located throughout the facility. Periodically, the position requires lifting or carrying items that would be appropriate in an office environment, not more than 20lbs.REMOTE WORK: The Behavioral Health Consultant is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
