Nexus Family Healing - Manteno is hiring a Housekeeper.

Our Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order throughout our facilities, helping to foster a positive, respectful, and therapeutic environment for staff and students. Located south of Chicago, in the small, rural community of Manteno, IL. We offer a unique homelike setting, where boys and girls aged 12-21 live, eat, exercise, and attend school on campus.

Work Environment:

Excellent sensory skills are important (sight, hearing and speech) as well as the ability to communicate effectively. This role routinely uses a vehicle, standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.


Schedule & Pay:

Location: 101 N Bramble Street, Manteno, IL 60950
Schedule (Full-time / Onsite): Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:30 pm (rotational weekends)
Pay: $17.30 per hour

Position Summary: Our Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order throughout our facilities, helping to foster a positive, respectful, and therapeutic environment for staff and students.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide routine cleaning and upkeep of public and common areas, including laundry rooms, restrooms, stairwells, hallways, offices, classrooms, and meeting spaces.
  • Maintain floors (mop, strip, wax, buff, vacuum, steam clean) and clean windows and coverings.
  • Empty trash/recycling and follow recycling protocols.
  • Complete assigned cleaning routine and special work requests; assist with moving furniture/equipment as needed.
  • Follow all Nexus safety guidelines and applicable regulations; report and address facility issues or safety concerns.
  • Secure supply/storage areas daily and stay current on safety codes and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies; ensure restrooms are stocked and supplies are distributed appropriately.
  • Supervise resident housekeeping and maintenance tasks; provide instruction and report any issues to clinical staff.
  • Support vocational and horticultural training programs for residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information and comply with Nexus privacy policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training; support Nexus philosophy and treatment approach.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Recognize and value cultural differences in all aspects of work and service delivery.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) and navigate stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to tolerate chemical odors or scents conducive to cleaning supplies and materials.
  • Must be able to climb, twist, turn and bend in a manner conducive to a housekeeping environment.
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year experience serving in a housekeeping and/or cleaning capacity
  • First Aid/CPR/Blood Borne Pathogen/TCI/Medication certification required annually.
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements
  • Must successfully pass an IL DCFS criminal background check.
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
