Job description

Absolute Independence LLC is seeking an ILST/Companion Provider to deliver reliable non-medical companion care for clients in their residences and in the community. THIS POSITION IS FOR THE FIRST TWO (2) SATURDAYS OF THE MONTH FOR 24 HRS FROM SATURDAY 8 AM TO 8 AM ON SUNDAY (PAID SLEEP SHIFT). All social activities with client are company paid, i.e.: concerts, shows, day trips, etc...

Position Summary

The ILST/Companion Provider provides non-medical companion care to clients in their homes and as needed outside of the residence. This role supports clients in maintaining independence, comfort, and engagement while ensuring client dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate is dependable, and committed to the mission of Absolute Independence, LLC. You will follow the client’s Service Plan/Care Plan and partner with the team to document services delivered and respond appropriately to changing client needs. (MALE VETERANS PREFERRED)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general attention and companionship to clients, supporting day-to-day needs in accordance with the Service Plan/Care Plan.

  • Assist with instrumental activities of daily living, including light housekeeping (e.g., laundry, vacuuming, and kitchen cleaning).

  • Prepare, serve, and/or assist with meals and snacks in line with dietary recommendations when applicable.

  • Support client independence through shopping assistance, incidental transportation (e.g., appointments and errands), and participation in recreational activities.

  • Remain in the client vicinity during shifts, document services and any changes in client condition or behavior, and promptly report unusual incidents or emergencies to the Director.

  • Follow required confidentiality and privacy practices, including HIPAA expectations, and use the company’s required time management system for clock-in/clock-out.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; or 6-12 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of basic housekeeping activities and meal preparation, with attention to dietary recommendations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and the Absolute Independence, LLC team in a respectful, professional manner.

  • Ability to read and understand short instructions, correspondence, and memos, and to document services delivered according to company policies.

  • Ability to follow established procedures for safety, documentation, and confidentiality, and to maintain appropriate client-focused judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • State-required certifications may be required (and candidates comfortable with obtaining/maintaining applicable certifications are preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and supportive while managing the demands of companion care responsibilities.

  • Familiarity with privacy standards and comfort handling sensitive information in a home setting.

  • Experience providing companionship and non-medical support, including encouragement toward independence.
