Role Description
Recom is seeking a Director, Digital Marketing - Amazon Ads, based in our Deerfield Beach HQ office or our up-and-coming NYC office. This person will lead the strategic vision, performance accountability, and full-funnel execution of Amazon advertising across our premium brand portfolio.
This role is designed for a modern "player-coach" who thrives on bridging high-level strategy with hands-on leadership. The Director will architect and scale a sophisticated Amazon advertising engine across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and Amazon DSP-driving profitable growth, increasing new-to-brand acquisition, and improving long-term customer lifetime value.
As a key leader within the marketing organization, this role partners closely with Brand, Creative, Retail, and Analytics teams. The Director will hold ownership over advertising budget allocation strategy, performance guardrails, and growth planning across multiple brand accounts.
The mandate is built on three pillars:
  1. Accelerating profitable revenue growth on Amazon
  2. Exercising financial stewardship through disciplined media investment
  3. Championing a culture of data-driven performance leadership

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Roadmap Development
Develop and own the comprehensive Amazon advertising strategy across accounts, defining optimal budget allocation, channel mix, and tactical roadmap to achieve growth objectives. Build and execute detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual plans aligned to revenue, ROAS, and TACoS targets. Identify opportunities for growth through new campaign structures, audience strategies, and emerging Amazon advertising product adoption.
Financial Stewardship & Budget Ownership
Command multi-million dollar advertising budgets with accountability for efficiency and scale. Lead forecasting, allocation modeling, and performance-to-plan analysis. Ensure capital is deployed against the highest incremental return opportunities. Own budget pacing for assigned brands, proactively identifying performance issues and implementing corrective actions.
Performance & Full-Funnel Leadership
Architect full-funnel investment strategy across Sponsored Ads and DSP, balancing branded demand capture with non-branded growth initiatives. Define KPI guardrails including ROAS, blended CAC, NTB %, and TACoS to drive both efficiency and expansion.
Analytics & Measurement Framework
Elevate performance measurement standards across the organization. Partner with analytics teams to refine attribution models, leverage Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) insights, and implement structured testing frameworks. Translate complex data into clear executive-level recommendations.
Amazon Marketplace Expertise
Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on the Amazon Advertising ecosystem. Guide advanced campaign structure, keyword strategy, placement optimization, audience segmentation, and incrementality testing across Sponsored Products, Brands, Display, and DSP. Act as the definitive internal authority on platform changes, best practices, and competitive advertising tactics.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate closely with Brand, Creative, Retail, and Content teams to improve conversion rate, listing optimization, A+ strategy, and promotional effectiveness. Align media strategy with product launches and tentpole events.
Team Development & Performance Elevation
Mentor and develop Managers, Specialists, and Analysts. Establish reporting standards, optimization frameworks, and accountability structures to ensure consistent performance improvement across brand partners. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
Innovation & Testing Culture
Drive a structured test-and-learn agenda including incrementality testing, holdout studies, creative A/B frameworks, dayparting analysis, and audience segmentation experiments. Evaluate and adopt emerging Amazon ad products and beta programs to unlock performance advantages ahead of competitors.
Performance Measurement:
Performance in this role will be assessed against a structured and quantitative framework:
  • Revenue Growth: Achieve and exceed revenue targets across managed Amazon portfolios.
  • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC): Optimize blended CAC while scaling spend responsibly.
  • Return on Ad Spend (ROAS): Maintain or exceed platform-specific efficiency benchmarks.
  • Total Advertising Cost of Sales (TACoS): Drive profitable long-term growth while improving organic contribution.
  • New-to-Brand (NTB) Acquisition: Increase incremental customer acquisition through non-branded and DSP strategies.
  • Market Share Growth: Deploy media strategically to capture competitive share within category.
  • Brand Partner Satisfaction: Build strong, trusted relationships reflected in partner retention and feedback.
  • Team Performance & Development: Improve account performance consistency and elevate analytical rigor

Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years of progressive experience in performance marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing teams and multi-million dollar budgets.
• Demonstrated experience managing advertising budgets of $1M+/month with P&L awareness and a proven track record of efficient scaling.
• Experience managing multiple brand or client relationships simultaneously, with a track record of building trust and delivering results.
• Proficiency with bid management platforms such as Pacvue, Skai, or xNurta.
• Working knowledge of Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) for measurement, audience strategy, and attribution.
• A deeply analytical and data-first mindset, with the proven ability to translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex marketing strategies and performance data clearly and persuasively to an executive audience.
• Proven ability to lead and develop team members with a focus on raising performance standards across a portfolio or brands.
• Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects, stakeholders, and deadlines effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions, build strong relationships, and influence decision-making without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Agency or accelerator experience managing a diverse portfolio of brands with varying margin profiles, catalog maturity, and strategic objectives.
• Experience with Amazon's full advertising ecosystem, including emerging ad products and beta programs.
• Proficiency with analytics platforms and business intelligence tools (e.g., Domo, Tableau, GMP).
• Experience with multi-touch attribution platforms and advanced measurement methodologies.
• A proven track record of ideating and executing innovative initiatives that drive business growth beyond core channel management.
New York City compensation transparency - the total compensation for this role will vary based on experience and overall skills sets evaluated through the interview process. Total annual compensation may range from $100,000 - $150,000.
