Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a busy Level II trauma center in the greater Austin, TX area, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details
  • Works in an 8-room Operating Room suite at a busy Level II trauma center
  • Shift hours are 11:00–21:30, Monday through Friday
  • Call rotation required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Surgical specialties include orthopedics, trauma, general surgery, GYN, urology, and DaVinci robotics; vascular and CVOR experience is a strong plus
  • Cerner EMR is used
  • No floating to other units required
  • Support staff includes PCTs, 3 supervisors, and team leads
  • 13-week assignment
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact state RN license required prior to start
  • Minimum 3 years of OR experience required
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required
  • ACLS required within 6 months of start date (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Diploma or degree from an accredited school of nursing required
  • Must possess a US Social Security Number and a US home address
  • Copies of Driver's License, certifications, and license verification required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required
  • Full SSN and full DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Performs circulating RN functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition throughout the perioperative process
  • Assists the operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning
  • Responsible for preparing the OR and ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are ready for use
  • Scrub experience is helpful but not required
  • Must be able to exercise critical thinking and decisive judgment with minimal supervision in a high-stress environment
  • Standard precautions and appropriate PPE must be followed at all times
  • Sky blue scrubs are required
