Job description

DNT Construction is now hiring several experienced Backfill Excavator Operators for our Austin Wet Utilities Austin area projects!
The Wet Utilities Department supports the underground utility systems by properly backfilling and compacting trenches after pipe installation.
To be considered for the role, you must:
  • Have at least 1 year of experience operating a 200-class excavator in utilities or heavy civil construction.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. A work week averages 40 to 60 hours.
This job is labor-intensive, and you will be working outside!

Responsibilities:
 
  • Operate 200-class excavator to backfill utility trenches following pipe installation.
  • Compact each lift of backfill materials using a roller wheel attachment.
  • Coordinate with the water truck operator to apply appropriate moisture content for optimal compaction.
  • Follow grade specifications and maintain trench integrity during the backfill process.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crews and foremen to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure proper function and safety.
