Education Requirements:
- Bachelors: Computer Information Systems, Server Administration, or related degree (Preferred)
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Admin, VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or
similar (Preferred)
- Languages: English (Required), Chinese (Highly Preferred)
Skill Requirements:
- Server Engineering Expertise: 10+ years of experience in architecting, deploying, and managing
Windows and Linux servers in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Virtualization & Cloud Technologies: Proficient in VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and hands-on
experience with cloud-based infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) for hybrid server environments.
- Server Security & Hardening: Deep understanding of server security best practices, patch
management, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Storage Management: Experience managing SAN/NAS environments, RAID configurations, and
backups using enterprise tools like Veeam, Commvault, or Veritas.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Proven ability to design and maintain HA/DR solutions for
critical systems including clustered server configurations and replication strategies.
- System Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Skilled in monitoring server health, analyzing logs,
tuning system performance, and managing resource allocation to maximize uptime.
- Automation & Scripting: Strong knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to
automate server provisioning, configuration, and patching tasks.
- Operating System Expertise: Deep knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Linux (RHEL,
Ubuntu), and experience managing mixed OS environments.
- Configuration Management: Experience with tools such as SCCM for configuration automation and
compliance enforcement.
- Compliance & Audit Readiness: Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, ISO 30100
GDPR, HIPAA) and experience ensuring system configurations meet audit and compliance
standards.
- Documentation & Change Management: Strong organizational and documentation skills to
maintain server build sheets, runbooks, inventory logs, and change records.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with IT, security, production, and
management teams to align system capabilities with business needs.
- Global Team Coordination: Experience working with remote/global teams (e.g., China/India) for
system rollouts, upgrades, and technical documentation exchange.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Server Infrastructure Documentation & Organization:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for server architecture, configuration settings, virtual
environments, patch levels, licensing, and physical asset tracking.
- Ensure server rooms and racks are well-organized, secure, and compliant with safety and access
protocols.
2. Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Partner with production, management, and IT teams to ensure server solutions support operational
needs and performance objectives.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and secure server implementations.
3. Data Center & Server Management:
- Oversee daily health of on-premises and virtualized server environments.
- Manage physical server hardware, firmware updates, virtual machines, and cloud-hosted instances
to maintain service availability.
4. Server Security & Compliance:
- Apply system hardening, manage access controls, and ensure timely application of OS and
security patches.
- Implement and enforce compliance with data protection regulations and internal security policies.
5. System Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
- Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds) to track server performance, storage capacity,
and uptime.
- Proactively identify and address resource bottlenecks and performance degradation.
6. Incident Response & Recovery:
- Lead root cause analysis and remediation for server-related incidents, including unplanned
outages or data integrity concerns.
- Oversee backup/restore processes, disaster recovery drills, and business continuity planning.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed on emerging server technologies, operating system updates, and hardware trends.
- Recommend upgrades and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
8. Training & Global Coordination:
- Work with overseas counterparts to coordinate server deployments, troubleshoot issues, and align
global IT standards.
- Share documentation, configurations, and system knowledge across regions to support
consistency.
9. Remote Access & System Access Controls:
- Manage secure remote access solutions including RDP gateways, SSH tunneling, and privileged
access management.
