Position Overview
Goat Tree is a vibrant, all-day dining destination rooted in fresh, coastal California cuisine, artisanal coffee, and an inviting, social atmosphere. As a Server, you are the face of the guest experience-delivering warm, engaging, and highly attentive service that reflects the effortless sophistication of Hotel Californian.
This role requires a balance of genuine hospitality, product knowledge, and efficiency. The Server is responsible for guiding guests through the menu, executing flawless service, and creating memorable dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
  • Deliver warm, personalized, and anticipatory service to every guest
  • Create a welcoming and engaging dining experience that reflects Goat Tree's energetic and approachable atmosphere
  • Guide guests through the menu, providing detailed knowledge of food, coffee, wine, and beverage offerings
  • Read guest cues and tailor service style accordingly (efficient vs. leisurely dining)
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism, urgency, and care to ensure full satisfaction

Food & Beverage Execution
  • Accurately take and enter orders into the POS system with attention to detail
  • Serve food and beverages in a timely and polished manner
  • Maintain full knowledge of menu items, ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods
  • Uphold all sequence-of-service standards and timing expectations
  • Ensure proper table maintenance, including clearing, resetting, and overall cleanliness

Sales & Revenue Enhancement
  • Thoughtfully upsell menu items, beverages, and specials to enhance the guest experience
  • Promote high-margin items such as specialty coffee, wine, and add-ons
  • Support achievement of restaurant revenue and guest check average goals

Operational Excellence
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, service stations, and POS areas

  • Collaborate with kitchen, bar, and support teams to ensure seamless service flow
  • Complete opening, running, and closing side work as assigned

Qualifications
