Job description

    Why Join CCD?

At CCD, youโ€™ll lead a team that plays a visible and meaningful role in shaping the experience of Center City Philadelphia every day. This is an opportunity to combine leadership, service, and active field work while contributing to a mission-driven organization dedicated to a clean, safe, and thriving downtown.

ย Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered environment? Do you enjoy working outdoors, leading teams, solving problems in real time, and making a visible impact in a dynamic urban setting? Center City District (CCD) is seeking a Community Service Representative Manager to lead and support a team of Community Service Representatives (CSRs) who help keep Center City clean, safe, welcoming, and vibrant.

This is an ideal opportunity for a strong people manager who enjoys active, field-based work, values public service, and brings flexibility to support a downtown environment, including weekend and nontraditional hours of work.ย ย

    About the Role

As a Community Service Representative Manager, you will oversee and motivate a team of frontline ambassadors who engage residents, businesses, workers, and visitors throughout Center City. This is not a desk-bound management roleโ€”this position requires working outdoors daily, coaching staff in the field, coordinating operations, and responding proactively to issues as they arise.

Youโ€™ll lead a team that represents the CCD brand through exceptional customer service, public engagement, place management, and collaboration with community stakeholders and city partners.

    What Youโ€™ll Do
    • Lead, coach, and manage a team of Community Service Representatives, setting clear expectations and fostering accountability and high performance.
    • Coordinate field operations and public outreach across assigned service areas to ensure visible, welcoming, and effective ambassador coverage.
    • Support and develop a team delivering exceptional customer service, problem-solving assistance, and place management services.
    • Identify and respond to community relations and public safety concerns, collaborating with internal teams and city agencies as appropriate.
    • Conduct field supervision, review reports, monitor service quality, and provide ongoing training and support.
    • Build strong relationships with businesses, property staff, residents, and community partners.
    • Ensure staff compliance with safety protocols, policies, procedures, and equipment standards.
    • Support data collection, surveys, reporting, and operational problem-solving efforts.
    • Maintain certifications, including CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
    ย What Weโ€™re Looking For
    • Experience managing and developing teams, ideally in customer service, security, hospitality, public service, operations, or related field environments.
    • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and spending substantial time in the field.
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and adjusted hours based on operational needs.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
    • Ability to lead proactively, make sound decisions, and respond calmly in dynamic situations.
    • Passion for public service, community engagement, and improving urban environments.
    • Must have a clean driving record as this position requires operation of a company vehicle, when required, during working hours
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Ability, when communicating, to use a handheld, two-way radio requiring manual dexterity and other electronic devices provided by the CCD.
    • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in varied weather conditions.
    • Must be able to carry a backpack with all required equipment totaling no more than ten (10) pounds, and lift and carry up to ย 20 lbs.ย
    • Must be able to observe activity within the CCDโ€™s boundaries and report as appropriate.
    • Must be able to work outside in inclement weather with moderate exposure to varied weather conditions. ย ย ย
