Common Search/ComparisonCommunity RnPublic Health Nurse

Both Community Rns and Public Health Nurses are registered nurses working in community settings. While Community Rns often focus on direct patient care in clinics or homes, Public Health Nurses emphasize population health, disease prevention, and health education at the community or government level. The roles overlap in credentials and work environments, but their primary focus and employer types differ slightly.

What can I do as a community RN?

A community RN provides healthcare services outside of hospital settings, such as home health visits, health education, and disease management. They assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate with other healthcare providers, often working in community clinics or patients' homes. Certification in public health or home health nursing can enhance their ability to serve diverse populations.
