Description Community Relations Support Help Connect Greensboro to the People Who Call It Home Great communities are built through relationships - one conversation, one neighborhood meeting, one community event, and one helpful interaction at a time. As a Community Relations Support team member, you'll help create those connections.

You'll work alongside Community Relations staff to support residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and community partners while helping deliver programs and events across Greensboro. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys serving people, solving practical problems, being out in the community, and making sure the details behind a successful event come together. From supporting public meetings and workshops to managing the Neighborhood Tool Trailer, your work will help make City programs more accessible and responsive to the people we serve.

About the Role As a Community Relations Support team member, you'll serve as a friendly and dependable point of connection between the City and the community.

Working under the direction of Community Relations staff, you'll provide information and customer service, support outreach programs, assist with community events, and take responsibility for the logistics and operation of the Neighborhood Tool Trailer. This role combines relationship-building with practical, hands-on work. You'll need to be comfortable talking with people, working with equipment, transporting materials, keeping accurate records, and adapting to changing event and program needs.

What You'll Do Connect residents and businesses with City services Respond to inquiries from residents, businesses, the City Manager's Office, and City Council regarding City services, programs, and operations. Provide clear and helpful information about City programs and procedures. Refer complex questions or concerns to the appropriate City staff for resolution.

Help residents navigate City resources and understand how to access available programs and services. Support community programs and events Assist with Community Relations programs such as public meetings, the City Academy Program, Love Your Block, and other community engagement initiatives. Support event planning, registration, preparation of materials, and on-site operations.

Assist with neighborhood walks, workshops, public meetings, and outreach activities. Greet participants, distribute educational materials, answer questions, and provide welcoming on-site customer service. Help ensure events and programs are organized, accessible, and ready for participants.

Manage the Neighborhood Tool Trailer Serve as the primary staff member responsible for the Neighborhood Tool Trailer. Coordinate reservations and maintain accurate equipment and supply inventories. Load, transport, haul, set up, and break down tools, equipment, supplies, and event materials.

Safely operate vehicles while towing the trailer. Inspect equipment and perform basic maintenance as appropriate. Ensure equipment and supplies are properly returned, stored, and maintained.

Strengthen community partnerships Support relationships with neighborhood associations, business groups, nonprofit organizations, and other community partners. Attend community meetings and assist with outreach activities. Promote City programs and services while helping ensure equitable access for residents across Greensboro.

Build trust through responsive, respectful, and people-centered interactions. Support field activities and issue documentation Participate in site visits with Community Relations staff. Observe community concerns and gather relevant information.

Assist with documenting issues involving residents, businesses, City departments, and external agencies. Help communicate information accurately so concerns can be routed to the appropriate resources. Keep programs moving behind the scenes Maintain program records and inventory information.

Prepare reports and correspondence. Enter and track data, including program participation. Assist with special projects and other administrative duties supporting Community Relations activities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. At least one year of experience in customer service, community outreach, event support, equipment management, administrative support, or a related field. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Experience safely driving a vehicle while towing a trailer. Experience safely loading, unloading, transporting, setting up, and breaking down tools, equipment, supplies, and event materials. Familiarity with hand tools, small-engine equipment, and basic equipment maintenance.

At least one year of experience maintaining inventory records or using an inventory control system. Equivalency: Three years of education and three years of experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in local government, public administration, community relations, neighborhood engagement, or a related environment.

Experience supporting public meetings, community events, workshops, or outreach programs. Experience coordinating equipment reservations, maintaining supplies, or managing an inventory system. Knowledge of municipal services, programs, procedures, and governmental operations.

Experience working with diverse communities, neighborhood associations, businesses, or nonprofit organizations.
