Job description

Program Assistant- Medical Day

We are seeking dedicated, high-energy, highly professional candidates who are passionate about helping individuals with intellectual and physically disabilities integrate into the community. The ideal candidate will help these individuals develop key life skills and become one with the community.

The hired team member will work in Baltimore City and County.

The current available schedule: Monday- Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $18.00/ hour

Program Assistant Essential Functions:
  • Implements appropriate activities for participants on a day-to-day basis.
  • With input from the Activities Coordinator, creates, maintains and displays arts and craft projects for the participant and family/caregiver. Follows information on the monthly calendar of activities.
  • Sets up equipment and supplies for activities and puts them away afterwards.
  • Takes participants on scheduled field trips.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork.
  • Required to complete daily documentation needed for program billing.
  • Assists the participant in ADL (Activities of Daily Living).
  • Responsible for daily toileting, changing and personal care for program participants.
  • Complete assigned kitchen duties for breakfast and lunch.
  • Operates various kitchen appliances and utensils.
  • Distributes breakfast, lunch and snack daily.
  • Completes laundry on assigned days.
  • Other duties as assigned
Program Assistant Qualifications (Skills and Abilities):
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  • High school diploma or have obtained GED or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or elderly preferred.
  • Must be able to use a computer using the current Microsoft Suite and learn to use iCareManger.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid Maryland ID
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Successfully pass background check and drug screening.
  • Obtain a physical and TB test.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings. Pass all trainings that have a testing component.
